Abortion Essay Example for Free

Abortion EssayAbortion has a long history and has been induced by various methods including herbal abortifacients, the use of sharpen tools, physical trauma, and other traditional methods. Contemporary medicine utilizes medications and surgical procedures to induce abortion. The legality, prevalence, and cultural views on abortion vary substantially around the world. In numerous parts of the world there is prominent and divisive plublic controversy over the ethical and legal issues of abortion. Abortion and abortion-related issues feature prominently in the national political relation in many nations, often involving the opposing pro-life and pro-choice worldwide social movements. Incidence of abortion has declined worldwide, as access to family planning education and encumbrance services has increased. Abortion incidence in the United States declined 8% from 1996 to 2003.Abortion is an issue that evokes, on all sides, very strong feelings and judgments and very heated recrimin ations. The more or less radical formulation of the anti-abortion or pro-life side of the debate views abortion as the murder of unborn children, and so as the equivalent of out(p) and out infanticide, making the legal use of abortion since Roe v. Wade, at a rate of around 1.5 million a year in the United States, into a holocaust of the innocent fully comparable to the Nazi genocide against the Jews. Radical pro-life activists who blockade abortion clinics (or who even commit terrorist acts of vandalism, arson, and murder) see what they do as what good Germans didnt do in the face of Hitlers atrocities, or what John Brown did do in his attempt at Harpers Ferry to free the slaves through tummy rebellion.

A Framework of Achieving Green Design.12IntroductionIn recent decades, the importance of sustainable development has been globally emphasized and discussed in the business approaches in all realms of the market. As Rainey (200684) mentioned, it is serious for business to integrate the environment issues with the business management approaches. Companies, in the present time, not only have to come to the maximum profit for sh ar suss outers but also need to maintain the balance of environment when they are implementing business activit ies. In the fashion market, developing a sore product through the philosophy of sustainability is the most efficient way to achieve the sustainable requirements successfully. As Stamm (2008) commented, designing a sustainable product mass nullify the terms of repairing the damage to the environment and also suspensor the company to adapt to the environmental requirements rapidly. Therefore, focusing on producing eco-friendly products fag be a vital issue.Although much of the literature is emphasizing the importance of implementing the sustainable product innovation, there is still little companies can do to achieve the goal successfully. As Carrillo-Hermosilla (2009) stated, since there is a wide range of sustainable strategies, it might be risky for companies to adapt the approach in an uncoordinated manner. According to Buchholtz (2006) the human familys between business and society seem to support this, and reach a conclusion that when companies announce taking the respo nsibility to meet the cordial expectations, it result be examined in a more circumstantial way by the general public. The aim of the project is to examine the well-known company in the UK fashion market, namely The Body Shop to see how it achieves the sustainability requirements when travel rapidly the business and how the product is developed in a sustainable way. The project will first start with the definition of the sustainable development, then analyze how the business approach is affected by the sustainable issue. Finally, it will focus on the product innovation for the environmental protection and examine The Body Shop in compliance with the theories mentioned.1. Sustainable Development1.1 Definition of Sustainable DevelopmentThere is a strong possibility that business activities will generate numerous environmental crises when they mainly aim at maximizing profit. Some examples of the damage are environmental pollution, ever-increasing problems of waste disposal, and the erosion of local cultures and environment caused by the booming tourism industry. Therefore, the regulations of environmental protection are essential to ensure well-being both at present and in the futurity. (Carrillo 20091)Sustainability, which was brought to public attention in the 1970s, was clearly sketch in the Brundtland Report, which stated that it is crucial that the economic development be prevented from exhausting natural resources and the environment should be repaired. In the past, the concept of sustainability was deemed to be similar to environmental protection, which in the present time has been extended to include three dimensions, namely economic, social, and environmental (Elkington 1999).Figure 1. The three components of sustainabilitySource extend (200423)Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.(World Commission on Environment and Development 1987 )More specifically, the three segments of sustainable development represent different meanings. The environmental part is to decrease the damage of human activity on limited natural resources and to protect the health of environment for the future generation. The aim of the economic segment is to protect the future generations from the disadvantages of continuing population or industrial activity growth. The final part is the social segment. This mainly focuses on the influence of business activities on native people. With the coming of the age of sustainable development, more and more companies are beginning to reexamine themselves. For example, in the UK, as Crane (200724) stated, the popularity of the dish named Fish and Chips, caused a severe overfishing problem. As a response, the government imported fish from other more sustainable resources to ameliorate the harm to the bio-system.1.2 bear upon on EnterpriseSustainable development has significantly affected the business manag ement approaches over the past few decades. Although it is risky for business to adapt themselves to the requirements of sustainable development, companies still can take advantage of the emerging issue by formulating effective sustainable strategies. (Rainey, 2006)In rules of order to develop a holistic sustainable strategy, it is useful to apply the enterprise management model (EMM) to achieve the SWOT analysis. As Rainey (200687) provided, the EMM presents an overview of the environment of business which is much closer to the practical business environment. work can develop the sustainable strategies by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of internal components and the opportunities and threats of external surrounding.Figure 2. The Enterprise Management ModelSource Rainey (200688)Firstly, business can conduct the SW analysis. The internal environment is presented as a value-added process in EMM which provides the business a complete structure to maintain the balance of envi ronment and avoid producing venomous waste. By examining the process of producing products, business can make sure that the sustainable development is followed not only by the business itself but also by the material suppliers. (Rainey, 200690)Furthermore, companies should analyze the opportunities and threats of the external environment, which mainly focuses on the effects of shareholders and the radical. Shareholders are the people who can affect the practice of business operation and marketing strategies. The infrastructure is the facility which supports business to meet the social expectations. Both of them are associated with the aspects of social, political/legal, economic, technology, competition, ecology, and ethical and connect the external surrounding and internal elements with the knowledge and information flow.(Rainey, 200691)after the SWOT analysis, it seems possible that companies are able to develop sustainable strategies in an organized manner. According to Weybrec ht (2010387), the sustainable strategy was developed depends on whether the business employ it to the whole business approaches or only integrated it in an uncoordinated way. However, there is a far less agreement about the possible sustainable strategies. Rainey (2006) concluded that the sustainable strategies need to be designed in a systematic method which linking the several possible sustainable issues with the supply networks, operation, distribution, markets and customers, and retirement disposal.Although businesses are adapted to the sustainable development by setting the effective sustainable strategies, it still cannot be successful without the cultural change. Changing the business culture doer to establish sustainable thinking and knowledge in the face. As Weybrecht(2010255) claimed the sustainable culture can be built in the following processCommunication- hold discussions constantly to exchange the ideas about sustainability.Recruiting- hiring the right person to lea d the sustainable related management activities.Feedback- training staff by offering some sustainable related education programs and give some rewards when staffs achieve the sustainable mission successfully.By following the steps above, the concepts of sustainability can be built from the bottom of the organization to the top. (Weybrecht, 2010255)2. Product Innovation2.1 Innovation and NPDInnovation plays a considerably key part in the present time. As Trott (2008) pointed out, since the 1930s, many researchers have argued about the relationship between innovation and economic growth. It seems that issues about innovation have drawn public attention for many years and are still being discussed until now. However, the relationship between innovation and business management has been highlighted and widely discussed since Abernathy and Utterback(1978) contended that the birth of any industrial sector is associated with the one radical innovation by another and the general incrementa l innovation, which means that the power of innovation decides the fate of new business. Since the rising popularity of innovation, the explanation of innovation is defined in many different ways. According to Stamm (2008259), innovation includes creativity and implementation, which means innovation not only requires creativity, to generate new ideas, but also implementation which means the business activities to realize the unique ideas. murder is a process of business activities which plays a determined role in the success of innovation. As Stamm (2008273) analyzed, the implementation can be divided into three steps, namely idea selection, development, and commercialization which turn the creativity into a rigid one.Figure 3. Interactive Model of InnovationSource Trott (200823)As Trott (2008) stated, innovation is the result of the marketplace, the accomplishment base, and the organizations capabilities and affected by the increasing improvement of technology and the needs of th e market. Moreover, in the process of new product development (NPD), examining the different aspects of a product is an important process to achieve the product innovation. Trott (2008) showed the five aspects of marketing, economics, design and engineering, RD, and production management, which provided companies with the direction to develop new products. Although companies can make profits by decreasing the cost of manufacture, the sales increase will not last for a long time since the competitor will set a relatively low footing quickly which will turn the competition of market share into a vicious circle. Also, the long-term methods to increase the market share and be a market leader is to create the competing ability which is hard to imitate.2.2 Product Innovation for the EnvironmentThe concept of product innovation for the environment is to design a product which lowers the shock on the business environment, and meets the social expectations. In the dynamic environment, how t o produce a product that meets the requirement of sustainability sours the most important issue. Although staff from the top to the bottom all need to be responsible for the change of sustainable development, the most efficient way is to focus on the design. A comment by MacKenzie stated, Designers are the of import part of product innovation as they embrace the holistic knowledge to design an eco-friendly product. This opinion is also supported by Carrillo-Hermosilla (200998) which mentioned that design for environment can decrease the reprocessing cost and avoid encountering problems in the end of product life. As Burell (199291) suggested that the design of an environmentally friendly product can follow four dimensions. The mannikin for achieving green design is presented as followMaterial ConsciousEnergy conscious Green Design Maximize product lifeDesign for recyclabilityFigure 4. A framework for achieving green designSource Adapted from Burall (199292)In order to achieve the requirement of sustainability, companies need to minimize the use of hazardous materials and experience the alternative ingredients which do not come from the scarce resources. Additionally, companies can also use the material which is beneficial to the environment such as recyclable paper. Also, it is essential to make sure that the suppliers follow the standard of environmental protection which will not affect the sustainable achievement of the company. Moreover, saving energy is also an important issue. Currently, many environmental issues like global warming are caused by the overuse of energy power. Business should design the product which can lower the outgo of energy and be user-friendly for customer to operate. With regard to the design for recyclability, although the company already uses natural resources, it still needs to avoid combining too many different ingredients which may lead the product to be difficult to recycle. Additionally, labeling the ingredients of product s clearly can be helpful not only because the classifying work can be easier but also make the hazardous ingredients to be noticeable. Also, designing the long life products for re-use can reduce the amount of wastes. As to maximize product life, design a product which is more realistic than only fashionable and ameliorate the weakness of products can improve the companys reputation. Furthermore, it is also vital for companies to design a product which can be user-friendly and easier to be repaired.Developing eco-friendly products by examining through the four aspects can help companies to meet the sustainable standards more efficiently. Products which meet the social expectations can generate the profit in a long term way through the rising of companys reputation. (Burall, 1992)The Fashion market in the UK The Body ShopThe Body Shop was founded by Annita Roddick in Brighton in 1976. Unlike most cosmetics companies, the promotion concept of The Body Shop is to emphasize the suitable cosmetics products for the different age of people instead of selling the slogan that people can stop ageing because of using its products. With regard to the internal analysis of The Body Shop, in order to ensure the maintenance of sustainability, it chooses the natural resources to be its raw materials and builds a close connection with its suppliers. Also, due to meet its shareholders expectation of caring for the elder people in the community it trades with, The Body Shop establishes the trade in Not Aid to alleviate the poverty and help people who are suffering from low payment in the third world countries. Moreover, The Body Shop aims higher moral standards by not only building a soap factory in the deprive region instead of in the safe suburb but also donating 25% of the future profit to extend the local facilities. The concept of sustainability of The Body Shop is to consider the value of sustainability as a core issue in its decision making process. For example, when The B ody Shop wants to develop a new product, it will examine each aspect of the product design which is related to the sustainable issues and devote itself to making the world as good as possible. In addition, The Body Shop founded a training school in 1985. The purpose of the training school is to educate its employees and related business partners about the knowledge of the latest environmental issues and considerate the awareness of environmental protection. (Roddick, 1992)As to the product innovation, green design, of The Body Shop, it is considered as a paradigm among various companies. There are two study applications of green design in The Body Shop. First of all, when it comes to the material conscious, most of the cosmetics products in The Body Shop consist of natural ingredients, such as, cocoa, and green mud. none of them are scarce or natural resources under threat. Secondly, there are some of the product designs for recyclability in The Body Shop. Before 1980s, The Body Sh op specially focused on the recycling and energy conservation schemes. After that The Body Shop started to pay attention to the environmental issues of packaging, waste and effluents and invented a bag which was do from recycled polyethylene in order to diminish the negative influences of its products. Besides, it encouraged the general public to use the non-chlorine bleached cotton fiber bags which can be refillable. In 1992, The Body Shop was the first corporation in the UK which recycled its own post-customer recycled waste. However, it is important to point that learning how to use natural resources to produce sustainable products in the underdeveloped countries may lead to the overuse of the natural resources. Since the natural resources are rather unique in the underdeveloped countries, the company may only gather the natural resources from the sure countries, however, because of the great demand of certain useful materials, they may be overused, which in turn the natural r esources may become scarce in the future. Take dear for example, honey is known as a natural ingredient which contains rich nutritive materials. However, the rapidly increasing demand of honey makes the amount become less and fewer. As a result, some of the companies are forced to stop using honey as their materials.Additionally, although it is believe that the economy of the third world countries gain expediencys from the Trade no Aid activity because the indigenous people can avoid the price exploitation of the middle trader. However, trading with poorer countries might generate several drawbacks in these third-world countries. The most significant negative effect is on the economic development. Because the majority type of jobs offered by trading activities is usually low-paid or short-term job the benefit of this kind of jobs is limited. Although the living standard of indigenous people is improved temporarily, it must not be overlooked that the countries in the third world h ave become more and more dependent on foreign countries and less likely to change their economic status by themselves.Furthermore, although the concept of using cotton bags is a favorable idea to avoid the environmental pollution of plastic bags, it did not turn out to be widespread. In The Body Shop store, people are still using paper bags instead of the cotton bags. The reason why it is not as popular as it should be, might because it is inconvenient for customers to bring the cotton bag with them whenever they are out for shopping. However, this problem can be solved by providing customers some incentives to encourage them to use the cotton bags instead of paper bags. For instance, the organic structure shop can offer customers a discount when they use the cotton bags. After the examination of the sustainable product innovation, it can be understand that it is challenge for companies to achieve the goal of sustainability.ConclusionBusiness approaches are significantly affected by sustainable development. Not only the development of business strategies and culture plaque but also the new product design was influenced by the issue. With regard to the development of sustainable strategy, it is important for companies to examine the internal and external business environment and make the difficulty of fulfilling the social expectations into an opportunity to earn a profit. Furthermore, when producing a product, it is essential to consider the usage of materials, the consumption energy, the life span of products, and the possibility of recycling. In the case study of The Body Shop, it can be clearly seen that the company has altered a wide range of the business approaches to meet the social expectations. However, the analysis also shows that the sustainable strategies of The Body Shop still can be improved, such as the promotion of cotton bag use and the way they help the countries in the third world. After discussing the relationship between sustainable devel opment and product innovation, it was concluded that integrating the business approaches with the environment management can be successful in the real world and it will be more efficient when focusing on the green product design. As Buchholtz (2006106) stated that an active involvement in the changing society can benefit a company from the significant challenge. It should be noted that other business approaches and different types of market, which is not described in detail in this project might also be related to the sustainable development. In the future, analyzing the different realms of market place can be helpful to those businesses which are interested in developing sustainable business approaches.

As such, a strong foundation has been laid for the economy to move forward into the new globalised environment.Company flat coat Malayan Airline System Berhad, as well cognize as Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is the government-owned flag carrier of Mal aysia. Malaysia Airlines operates flights from its home base, Kuala Lumpur Inter national airdrome, and its secondary hub in Kota Kinabalu. It has its headquarters on the rationality of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor.Malaysia Airlines had its humble beginning in the golden age of travel. A joint initiative of the Ocean Steamship Company of Liverpool, the drumhead Steamship of Singapore and Imperial Airways led to a proposal to the government of the Colonial Straits Settlement to run an air service between Penang and Singapore. The emergence was the incorporation of Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) on 12 October 1937. On 2 April 1947, MAL took to the skies with its first commercial flight as the national airline. Fuelled by a recent and dynamic team of visionaries, the domestic carrier turned into an international airline in less than a decade. With the formation of Malaysia in 1963, the airline changed its name to Malaysian Airlines Limited and soon after, Borne o Airways was incorporated into MAL. Within 20 years, MAL grew from a single aircraft operator into a company with 2,400 employees and a fleet operator using the whence latest Comet IV jet aircraft, 6 F27s, 8 DCs and 2 Pioneers. In 1965, with the separation of Singapore from Malaysia, MAL became a bi-national airline and was renamed Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA). A new logo was introduced and the airline grew exponentially with new services to Perth, Taipei, Rome and London. However, in 1973, the partners went separate ways Malaysia introduced Malaysian Airline Limited, which was subsequently renamed Malaysian Airline System, or simply known as Malaysia Airlines. Today, Malaysia Airlines flies nearly 50,000 riders daily to some ascorbic acid destinations worldwide. The airline holds a lengthy record of service and topper practices excellence, having foold more than than 100 awards in the last 10 years. The most notable ones include macrocosm the first airline with the Worlds Best Cabin Crew by Skytrax UK consecutively from 2001 until 2004, 5-star Airline in 2005 and 2006, as well as No.1 for Economy Class Onboard Excellence 2006 excessively by Skytrax UK. It is one of only six airlines to be given a 5-star military position airline by Skytrax (the other 5 are Asiana Airlines from South Korea, Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong, Qatar Airways from Qatar, Singapore Airlines from Singapore and Kingfisher Airlines from India).7(Malaysia Airlines Home Page, 2010)Macro Environmentpolitical and legal environmentThe political environment is one of the less predictable elements in an organizations business environment. Political environment has a great impact on the opportunity and threats of Malaysia Airlines. The ASEAN devote sky agreement took effect in December 2008 and is scheduled to be fully implemented by 20158(Wikipedia, 2010). The agreement will get regional air carriers to make unlimited flights to all 10 ASEAN member states. According to Minister of Transport Malaysia Dato Seri Kong Cho Ha, the agreement will further expand and open cities in ASEAN member nations and from all routes, and he in any case believes that it will bring regions positive development of the aviation industry. This development plan is including flight liberalization, aviation safety, air traffic management, aviation technology, aviation environmental protection, air management framework and human resources development. As the biggest government owned flag carrier of Malaysia, MAS also be protected and to consolidate its international image in the ASEAN.The Malaysian government has never had a clear written commercial air transport policy. The national carrier MAS was asked to operate both domestic and international services but in the early years, more emphasis was placed on domestic services. The encase of the emergence of AirAsias approval to operate low-fare services both for domestic and international services cause a ridiculous situation where MA S had to compete with AirAsia which was charging low fares, being a low-cost carrier as MAS fares and rates were controlled by the government. However, since 2007, MAS has been catered to charge its own domestic fares. By this, MAS give the bounce meet the subscribe to of the public for low fares with a fair and balanced consideration9. (The Malay Mail Homepage, 2010)Besides, the policy of the other countries will also affect MAS performance. For example, the airport tax of Changi Airport in Singapore will be rise in 2011. The airlines and travelers using Changi Airport will have to pay more start from April next year. The travelers subjected to a passenger service charge and a security service charge which will be added to the price of the air ticket. This will result in budget travelers also paying more. This might reduce the number of customers to take flight with MAS to go to Singapore as they need to pay more on the tickets price10. (Airport disturb Website, 2010)The legal environment serves to define what organizations can and cannot do at a particular point in time. Normally acts and regulations are not directly affect MAS daily operation it is only a way to decease the criminal. The following are Aviation Acts and RegulationsCivil Aviation Act 1969 Act 3An act to make better provision in the law relating to Civil Aviation and for matters connected therewith and ancillary to it.Carriage By Air Act 1974 Act 148An act to give effect to certain hosts relating to carriage by air and to provide for matters connected therewith and ancillary thereto.Civil Aviation Offences Act 1984 Act 307An act to give effect to the Convention on Offences and Certain other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft signed at Tokyo on 14 September 1963, the Convention for the Suppression of wrong Seizure of Aircraft signed at The Hague on 16 December 1970, the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation signed at Montreal on 23 September 1 971, and the Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts of Violence at Airports Serving International Civil Aviation, concluded at Montreal on 24 February 1988 and for purposes connected therewith.Airport and Aviation Services (Operating Company) Act 1991 Act 467An act to provide for the vesting of property, rights and liabilities of the Government of Malaysia relating to civil aviation in a company, to make financial arrangements for that company, to provide for matters relating to provide and for other matters connected therewith.International Interest In Mobile Equipment (Aircraft) Act 2006 Act 659An Act to implement the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Aircraft Equipment. hearty and cultural environmentThe social and cultural dimensions of the environment consist of customs, lifestyles, and values that characterize the society in which the firm op erates. Social and cultural components of the environment influence the ability of the firm to obtain resources, make its goods and services, and function within the society. Social and cultural factors include anything within the context of society that has the potential to affect an organization. Population demographics, rising educational levels, norms and values, and attitudes toward social responsibility are examples of Social and cultural variables.MAS airline are not only do their business on Malaysia and also on other countries, especially Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, place East and on the Kangaroo Route between Europe and Australasia. Every social and cultural factor of those countries may affect MAS airlines operation. MAS airline are trying many an(prenominal) way to match all different cultural and social factors to gain their profit. And now MAS airline was co-operation with 31 airlines those from different countries to know more about the topical anestheti c cultural and social. As we know MAS airline has more 50 years doing their business in Malaysia, so they are always no forget the Malaysia people. We can know that from their uniform, female flight attendants are wearing Sarong Kebaya which are superimposed on the kelarai motif is a mixture of Malaysian flora, such as the cempaka, jasmine and the leaves of the hibiscus. Carbon offset program is one of the efforts made by people to slow down global warming11(Refer appendix 2.1). With this environmentally friendly manner, MAS calculates the required economic cos t to offset these carbon dioxide emissions, and then contribute to the specialized enterprises or institutions after aware that 2% of the worlds carbon emissions of greenhouse gases are contributed by the aviation industry. (Wikipedia, 2010)The purpose of the Kyoto Protocol is stabilized the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations at an appropriate level, thus preventing severe damage of climate change on human12. Malaysia as one of the signatories, MAS also has an obligation to perform their responsibilities to restore the harsh environment of earth. Besides that, MAS also implement the Green Plan Concept in their operation and management that consist of Reduce, Recycle, and Re-use. The plan not only focuses to reduce material and slide fastener consumption, reduce emissions of harmful substances, but also concerned in make products and components to facilitate the separate collection and recycling or re-use. (Wikipedia, 2010) engine room environmentTechnology is another aspect of the environment a firm should consider in developing strategic plans. Changing technology may affect the demand for a firms products and services, its production processes, and raw materials. Technological changes may create new opportunities for the firm, or threaten the survival of a product, firm, or industry. Technological innovation continues to move at an increasingly rapid rate.MAS airline had advanced their technology to meet their customer needs in information technology such as provide online services (tickets selling) that able to reserve the seats their needs (Refer appendix 2.2). MAS airline was providing e-ticketing, its an easy way for their customer to purchase ticket but only can throw in a party of 9 passengers and below in a single booking. There is a 6 alphanumeric character given during booking and also printed on your E-Ticket. It is also referred to as Booking Reference, Reloc MH etc. This information technology has a certain role in promoting the number o f airline passenger.MAS continue to repair airport facilities technology such as airport construction and equipment installation, new energy and environmental technologies airport, airport lighting, airport barrier-free facilities and technology, airport construction steel, ground bet on equipment and services etc to promote the development of the airport and increase the satisfaction of passengers. Most of Malaysia Airlines aircraft are made by Boeing Company (Refer appendix 2.3) Boeing Company is the world drawing card in the aerospace industry company and the worlds largest manufacturer of civil and military aircraft. It also increases the confidence of passengers on MAS airplanes. In addition, the rotor design and manufacture, electronic systems and advanced information and communications systems of Boeing aircraft are effective in helping Malaysia Airlines to provide the best in-flight services.Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is considering an additional aircraft type for its new flee t plan- the A350, B787 Dreamliner or Boeings latest B777 variant, B777-300. MAS already have three B737-800s on lease. The airline, in an effort to lock in its financing costs early, has also issued out request for financing proposals to cover its deliveries until 2012. MAS plan to receive 14 B737-800s, eight A330-300s and five A380s by the end of 2012.Economy environmentEconomic factors refer to the character and direction of the economic system within which the firm operates. Economic factors include the balance of payments, the state of the business cycle, the distribution of income within the macrocosm, and governmental monetary and fiscal policies. The impact of economic factors may also differ between industries. From the perspective of the world economy, world trade growth will slow down the U.S. subprime mortgage crisis has caused turmoil in international financial markets and the fall U.S. economy, and to some degree of drag on the global economic growth. This also affecte d the MAS must holding a conservative approach in finality making to reduce the risk. But according to optimistic forecasts by senior economist at HSBC Global Research, economic growth in Malaysia is expected up 7.3% this year supported by the strong rebound in exports and soaring commodity prices. The overall level of consumer prices rise about 8% and domestic economic development will benefit the entire aviation industry. As one of the company airlines, MAS airline has many connections throughout the world and it will give a big impact to the company if there are any changes in economy level. As we know economy of Malaysia are growing slightly, people purchasing power are growing slightly also. More and more people are spending their money for travelling either out of Malaysia or in Malaysia. Normally, people will purchase more during some season especially the school holiday. MAS was providing some promotion to increase their revenue, such as ASEAN Pass, Balik Kampung, MAS Holida ys Packages, etc.demographic EnvironmentThe population growth has a great impact on the sales of Malaysia Airlines. The population in Malaysia was increasing from 23,274,690 (2000) to 28,306,700 (2009)(Refer appendix 2.4). The increasing numbers of population in Malaysia will affect MAS sales indirectly. As the population increase, the number of potential customers will also increase. At the same time, the demand for MAS services and products will also increase. Due to this reason, MAS should satisfy the needs of the afterlife customers in order to increase the sales.Based on the statistic, the population of East Malaysia in year 2009 is 5,793,700 and the population of West Malaysia in year 2009 is 22,513,000 (Refer appendix 2.4). This shows that the population of West Malaysia is more than East Malaysia. Therefore, MAS should pay more attention to the West Malaysia because there has a high opportunity and faster growth for MAS.Micro EnvironmentThere are some factors or elements i n an organizations immediate area of operations that affect its performance and decision making freedom. These factors include competitors, customers, intermediaries, employees, media and shareholders.CompetitorsCompetitors exist in all the industry. In airlines industry, MAS have many competitors such as Air Asia, Tiger airway, Jetstar and others. The major competitor for MAS is Air Asia. In this highly competitive market, MAS should keep an eye on their competitors and try to predict their likely next moves. Air Asia offers a device called e-player that allow customers to select and switch between movies, tv shows, music and games by pressing the concealing (Refer appendix 3.1). Due to this, MAS also offer customers their very own 10.4 liquid crystal display touch screen monitor to watch any one of 12 video channels of their choice in their personal space (Refer appendix 3.2). The screen monitor also becomes a video game console if the customer needs extra excitement13. (The busi ness environment 6th edition ,Adrian Palmer move Hartley 1.3.4 ,pg15)Although they have many competitors, but MAS also can outstanding. This is because MAS use the non-price decision strategy. They use this strategy to remove themselves from the price competition. MAS competes their competitors by providing the best services to the customers. For examples, MAS provides a comfortable seat (versatile new flat bed seat) to their customer (Refer appendix 3.3). Besides that, MAS and their competitors also got provide the online services like purchase tickets or chasten the schedule of the flight to the customers (Refer appendix 2.2). But MAS always upgrade their website to ensure the customers can browse their website faster and not waste the consumer time. Explorations of Modernity and Excitement in Two Poems: The Teachers an

Poems- The Teachers and In Mrs Tilschers consort I am going to be equivalence two poems, The Teachers by Liz Lochhead and In Mrs Tilschers Class by Carol Ann Duffy. The two poems talk about the same thing, which is teachers, but in different ship canal and the way that the poems structures argon created for the reader. Both the poems recall parts of their school days and talk about memories of teachers they once had. Carol Ann Duffy talks about her fond memories of a teacher she once had, saying about how playful her school day was, she uses skittle of milk to describe the joy of being able to have milk, excessively, she relates some parts of the poems to toys, including her teacher, Mrs Tilscher, who made many of their lessons more playful and at the end of the day it would leave her happy. On the other hand Liz Lochhead concentrates on the description of what happened in school and the characters of her teachers. On lines 5- 6 she says Wars were bad but sometimes n ecessary, this could represent the fact that the poem was written during or after the war era, she could also be talking about classroom wars, for example wars of the sexes. She chooses to subtract the poem on a really dull note this could be because she may not have felt any emotions towards her school life or her teacher and peers. This dreary start makes the rest of the poem bland, with no detail of emotions, leaving it simple(a) and basic to the reader. In the first stanza of In Mrs Tilschers Class Duffy, starts it with You could travel up the blue Nile with your finger, flat though the blue Nile isnt blue, its like she remembers the start of the day as being perfect, but whilst everyone knows that the water in the blue Nile is actually ... ...e last line of the poem would make us think even though they atomic number 18 going into a newer school habitat and age, they still are growing up and they will find out things that they never knew and are able to learn more ev en though that there are dangers on the way. Also the line could mean that they are now leaving Mrs Tilschers Class and now their lives may become dangerous without her. Overall, I think that both the poems are good, but Lochheads is lacking the excitement that school can bring. Both the poems are similar to each other, but In Mrs Tilschers Class is more modern than The Teachers which many have been set in the war era, meaning everything was in hapless supply during the school day. Lochheads poem doesnt make you feel any emotion, but Duffys makes you feel what she is feeling as a child, which I think makes it a more interesting poem to read.

Banneker sent Jefferson a copy of his first almanac. With it he sent a letter in which he called for the abolition of slavery and a liberal military position toward blacks. Bannekers skills impressed Jefferson greatly. Jefferson sent a copy of the almanac to the Royal Academy of Sciences in Paris an evidence of the talent of Negroes. Opponents of slavery in the United States and England also used the almanacs as evidence of blacks abilities. The Publishers of Bannekers almanacs printed contributions by prominent Americans in addition to his material. In the 1793 almanac, for example, the famous surgeon and statesman Benjamin direction proposed the appointment of a U.S. secretary of peace. Banneker himself probably contributed a few proverbs, essays, and poems.I think Benjamin Banneker changed the world with his almanac.

Junk E-Mail is Abusive to the Internet and its Users :: Argumentative Persuasive Argument Essays

Junk E-Mail is Abusive to the Internet and its UsersWith in the bygone decade, the term altercate mail has transformed from a pile of flashy advertisements and unnecessary coupon books to an intruding, pervasive, and even offensive collection of electronic messages. Though, the distri hardlyion of postal mail for the purpose of advertisement is governed by effective laws, distribution of unsolicited email runs free across the internet at the expense of others. The solicitation of junk e-mail fosters profit for few, at the inconvenience of many. Though the solicitors of junk email are to blame for the mail itself, the government is to blame for the continuing flow and miss of response to this dilemma. Email is one of the most popular means of communications today. According to our textbook, Media Now, Obviously, the killer electronic application these days is email. Its presence is all but inbiquitous among computer users and its growth skyrockets day by day (LaRose, 362 ). In fact, email is even more widely used than the United States Postal Service (LaRose, 362). If email circulates more mail than the post office, then why is email less regulated? The internet and email is a new technology which Congress is timid on how to regulate. Email has become popular only within the past few years, but regulation must be enacted. According to the Final Comments to the national Trade Commission on Unsolicited Commercial Email which was compiled in June of 1997, the ladings of junk email is expected to grow. In fact, most people do non want this unsolicited mail sent to them. World research reports that over one half of the people they surveyed hated junk mail, and another one fourth found it bothersome(Semilof, 1). Something must be done. One might ask, however, why email needs to be regulated. The core of the problem is the extra costs and intrusions of retirement which junk email provokes. Senders of junk email slow the processing and qualit y of Internet Service Providers, intrude privacy by harvesting email addresses, and unfairly distribute mail to uninterested consumers. Junk email incures storage costs, productivity costs, bandwidth or telephone line costs, and processing costs (Simmons, 24). Senders of this mail benefit from the burden on others. Though the senders of this mail need to be stopped, action must be taken to stop them.
